Online Learning Courses Announced

The Danish Interagency Safety Network (DISN) is excited to announce our Spring 2021 Online Learning Course schedule. The topic of each course aims to address subjects concerning safety, risk and security issues faced by Danish Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) operating internationally in the field. More detailed descriptions of each course will be announced shortly.

The target audiences for these courses are managers, staff and advisers who are participating or responsible for managing Safety Change Management in their organizations.

Spring 2021 Online Learning Course Schedule

‘Safety-To-Go’ / ‘Safety for smaller NGOs’ (Open to DISN and non-DISN members)

– Date: 29 April & 3 May

– Time: 2 Half-day sessions (Time TBD)

– Cost: Free

– Location: Online via Zoom

– Course Objectives: All participants will be able to identify the most urgent needs in their organizational safety risk management system, such as the need to create a safety policy, assessment templates, incident log, safety management hierarchy, safety focal point, and terms of reference.

Duty of Care (Open to DISN and non-DISN members)

– Date: May 10

– Time: Full day (9am-3pm)

– Cost: Free

– Location: Online via Zoom

– Course Objectives: All participants will gain a better understanding of the current legal and moral elements of Duty of Care.

Critical Management Team (DISN member-only course)

– Date: 20-21 May

– Time: 2 Half-day sessions (Time TBD)

– Cost: Free

– Location: Online via Zoom

– Course Objectives: All participants will learn who is responsible for what in a crisis situation and the functions within a CMT, be able to recognize and map the risks and vulnerabilities in their operation, learn how to structure an effective crisis response mechanism, and discuss tools to prevent harm to staff, assets and reputation.

 Family Liaison Officer (DISN member-only course, limited spots available)

– Date: 7-8 June

– Time: 2 Full-days (9am-3pm)

– Cost: Small participation fee per attendee (TBD), Lunch and coffee/tea is included.

– Location: Danish Refugee Council, Borgergade 10, 1300 København

– Course Objectives: All participants will learn the best practices and techniques on communicating with family members in crisis situations, examine psychological aspects of dealing with family crises, and practice skills in managing family dynamics, expectations and fears as well as in dealing with stress while maintaining trust and professionalism in a situation. Note: This course will be conducted in-person (in accordance with covid regulations) and includes the use of roleplayers.
