Engineers Without Borders is a technical-humanitarian organization of volunteer and committed members with technical competencies. We work with local and international aid organizations to help those in need in poor countries and ensure local support. We provide basic survival opportunities and we help build a better future for people affected by disasters and poverty.
We are also involved when the disaster is over and more lasting, long-term solutions are needed. Our work is wide-ranging: we build schools and health clinics, repair roads and bridges. We provide clean water and better sanitation, so that fewer children become ill or die of cholera, typhus or poor toilet conditions and a lack of clean drinking water.
Engineers Without Borders was established in Denmark in 2001 and is part of Engineers Without Borders International. This allows us to put together a strong international team when we are needed.
We are a non-profit organization, and are funded solely by members’ contingents as well as the contributions we receive from public and private donors. IUG currently has over 1,200 members, of which almost 250 are students.
