‘Introduction to Managing Security Risks’ Online Learning Course (Part 2)

The Danish Interagency Safety Network (DISN) is excited to be hosting our first FREE Online Learning Course of 2021 entitled ‘Introduction to Managing Security Risks’. This course is open to DISN and non-DISN members and will take place via Zoom.

Date & Time: 29 April (part 1) & 3 May (part 2), 2 Half-day Sessions (9:00am – 1:00pm)

Course Objectives: This workshop will provide an overview of good practice for organisations to develop and implement an appropriate security risk management system and culture, recognising that each organisation is different in both their mission and capacity. The approach taken throughout the workshop is interactive and provides an opportunity to learn from others as well as sector experts.  This workshop is targeted at managers who have staff safety and security as part of their remit. Topics include:

  • Framework for Security Risk management
  • Taking a person-centred approach
  • Funding
  • Risk Assessments
  • Creating a Safe Workplace
  • Coordination and Collaboration
  • Developing appropriate SRM culture and systems.

– The target audience for this course is managers, staff and advisers who are participating or responsible for managing Safety Change Management in their organizations.

Lead Trainer: Lisa Reilly, Executive Director of The Global Interagency Security Forum (GISF)

Lisa has over 16 years’ experience in the development and humanitarian response sector, working overseas in a variety of programme management roles in both Africa and Asia. In her current role, Lisa exercises overall responsibility for the GISF Secretariat, supporting the collaboration and exchange of information and best practice between GISF members and GISF’s wider network of humanitarian security risk specialists, as well as liaising with and acting as a resource for UN agencies, academic institutions, donors, etc., to develop appropriate policies and best practice in humanitarian security risk management.
